Rebels Shoot Under Par All Three Rounds

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – The No. 34 Ole Miss men's golf team finished fourth at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate on Sunday. Once again, the Rebels were led by Jackson Suber, who tied for fifth while tying his career-low 54-hole score of 206 (-10).

Ole Miss went under par all three rounds during the tournament for the first time this season. The Rebels fired the third-lowest round in program history in the second round with a 15-under 273 and finished with a 23-under 841 (285-273-283), the seventh-lowest tournament total in program history.

Ole Miss led the field in pars with 183 and were the only team to play the par 3s (-1), par 4s (-1) and par 5s (-13) under par over the three days of competition. The Rebels' par-3 scoring also paced the field.

"I was proud of the way these guys fought until the last hole," head coach Chris Malloy said. "We struggled to build momentum like we did yesterday and really had to grind on our back nine. It has been a long week with playing back-to-back events, so I know that we are all looking forward to getting back and regrouping before our final event of the fall season. This team is very talented, and we have a chance to be very good once we eliminate unforced errors."

Suber has led the Rebels on the leaderboard in all four events this fall after earning his third top-five performance of the season. The sophomore went under par all three rounds for the first time this fall, highlighted by his second round 7-under 65, which tied his career low. His three-round total of 206 (71-65-70) tied his career-low 54-hole score. During the final round, Suber started off with back-to-back birdies and made the turn with a bogey-free 33 (-3). Two bogeys countered a birdie on the back and he signed for a 70 (-2). The Tampa, Florida, native found success on the par 3s, going 3-under on the short holes throughout the week to lead the 87-man field.

Sarut Vongchaisit notched his third top-20 finish of the fall after setting a new career-low 54-hole score of 210 (72-68-70). The sophomore went par-or-better all three rounds, and tied for the team lead in birdies with 14, matching Suber's total. Vongchaisit went 2-under through his last five holes on Sunday to finish in red figures.

Jack Gnam finished tied for 32nd while being the third Rebel to shoot par-or-better all three rounds (72-70-72—214). The sophomore was second on the team in pars with 39, 14 coming during the final round. Gnam was a bogey-free 2-under his first 15 holes today before his only two miscues came on Nos. 16 and 18.

Chip Getz tied for 43rd with a season-best 54-hole score of 1-over 217 (70-76-71). The senior finished strong with a 2-under 34 on the back nine, including a stretch of three birdies in four holes. Veeti Mahonen finished tied for 47th after going 74-70-74—218 (+2).

Brody Blackmon, playing as an individual, finished tied for 39th, ending with two rounds par-or-better (74-70-72—216).

The Rebels return to the course Oct. 28-30 for the Hoakalei Country Club Invitational in Ewa Beach, Hawaii. That event will close out Ole Miss' fall season.
