Men’s Tennis Set to Play ITA Southern Regional in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. - Ole Miss men's tennis is back on the road this week for the ITA Southern Regional in Baton Rouge, La. The six-day tournament will be held at the LSU Tennis Complex, set to run from Wednesday, Oct. 16 through Monday, Oct. 21.
The tournament will pit the best players in the ITA's southern region against one another in both singles and doubles play. Qualifying singles is set to take place Wednesday with the main draw of singles and doubles both set to follow, beginning Thursday morning.
Six Rebels will make the trip to Tigerland. Gordon Whitwell, Matthieu Chambonniere and Benjamin Martin will start off the week for the Rebels in the qualifying singles draw on Wednesday. The other three Ole Miss competitors will begin play in the main draw on Thursday.
The two singles finalists from each region will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship and the doubles champion from each region will qualify for the NCAA Doubles championship, which will be held Nov. 19-24 in Waco, Texas.

THE REBELS
Noah Schlagenhauf (Jr.) - Nuertingen, Germany
-Boasts a 7-2 singles record on the fall season
-Went undefeated in singles in the opening tournament of the season, going 3-0
-Concluded the 2023-24 season with an overall record of 16-10 singles record and an 8-11 record in doubles
-Tallied the second highest conference victories in singles on the team with five
Isac Strömberg (Jr.) - Stockholm, Sweden
-Secured two straight set singles wins so far on the season
-Finished the 2023-24 season with a 14-17 singles record and a 9-14 record in doubles
-Primarily played in the No. 3 slot in singles and doubles
-Won 11 singles matches in straight sets
Loan Lestir (Fr.) - Lille, France
-Has a 1-1 singles record on the fall season
-Defeated Nikita Volonski (Grand Canyon), 3-6, 6-3, 7-5, to capture his first collegiate win at the ITA All-American Championships
-Tallied a career-high ITF junior ranking of No. 127
-Named a finalist for doubles in the national French championship and advanced to the semi-finals two years in a row
Matthieu Chambonniere (Fr.) - Paris, Île-de-France
-Won the houndstooth double draw in his collegiate debut
-Notched two wins in both singles and doubles at the SEC Challenge
-Secured the 2022 ITF J4 Dubai doubles title
-Tallied 43 singles wins and 20 doubles victories in his amateur career
Benjamin Martin (Fr.) - Nort-sur-Erdre, France
-Won the houndstooth double draw in his collegiate debut
-Notched two wins in both singles and doubles at the 2024 SEC Challenge
-Finalist in the French championship for ages 15-16 years
-Secured the 2020 J5 Ponts de Ce doubles title with Rebel teammate, Loan Lestir
Gordon Whitwell (Jr.) - Oxford, Mississippi
-Opening his junior year campaign
-Finished the 2023-24 season with a 4-5 singles record and a 2-1 record in doubles
-Won three singles matches in straight sets in the 2023-24 season
-Went a perfect 2-0 in dual singles matches last season

FALL SLATE CONTINUES
After their time in Baton Rouge, the Rebels will travel back to Oklahoma to compete in another ITF Future in Norman (Oct. 21-27). From there, Ole Miss will continue their fall run in Atlanta, Georgia at the Georgia Tech Fall Invite (Nov. 1-3) before traveling west to the ITA Masters in San Diego, California (Nov. 7-10). The Rebels will conclude their fall campaign in Tallahassee, Florida at the ITA Sectionals (Nov. 7-10), looking for their last chance to advance to the 2024 NCAA Individual Championships.
